What is it with characters in TV series and movies lying on their bed (or even going to sleep) with their shoes on? They even sometimes cover themselves with the bed sheet without taking their shoes off!

Many years ago I thought this is a North American thing. I have lived in Canada for many years now and most people I’ve met take off their shoes at the main door. Even in hotel rooms.

Is this a movie thing similar to the stupid taking the bullet out of someone’s body at any cost with absolutely no regard for bleeding?
